Maot Chittim in ISRAEL for Passover 2022
Sponsor Needy Families in Israel for PESACH
Every year at the Seder table we gather with our family and friends to celebrate the season of our freedom– “Z’man Heyruteinu”. We read the Haggadah and eat the symbolic foods to remind us and experience for ourselves true spiritual and physical liberation, as well renewal.
Unfortunately, this Passover thousands upon thousands of orphans and entire impoverished families in Eretz Israel, will have a very different Seder and holiday.
Over 2.5 million Israelis live in poverty, out of which 1.1 million are children.
Our poverty-stricken brethren– the orphans, children, elderly, entire families– are suffering in silence. This is their Mitzrayim.
The Passover Haggadah teaches us about the four sons, and our Rabbis teach us about a fifth son who won’t even make it to the Seder table. This Passover you can make sure that thousands orphans, needy families, Holocaust survivors, and IDF soldiers, make it to the Seder table and enjoy the holiday with dignity and joy.
Your "Maot Chitim" donation will provide a minimum of $96 per family with the groceries of their choice (thereby ensuring they are used).
Join our Maot Chitim campaign and make a difference for thousands of orphans and needy families in Israel.
I wish to help my brethren in Israel with pre-paid Food Cards for the holiday of PESACH "Mao't Chitim" for:
Victims of terror,
Families of IDF soldiers,
Orphans and needy families,
by clicking HERE and donating online.
or send a check by regular mail to:
Global Jewish Assistance (JAR)
1414 Carroll Street Brooklyn. NY 11213
Each and every month throughout the year, the Jewish Assistance & Relief provides close to 2,000 Food Cards for needy Israeli families with a minimum value of $80 to as much as $600, and for the Holidays, we supply an additional 3,000-5,000 families with assistance of at least $80 to help with the added Holiday expenses.
Recipients are chosen by local Ministry of Welfare offices based on specified criteria . Many families do work, but are still struggling to make ends meet. Some of them can't keep jobs because of constant care of their seriously sick or disable family members . Lots of our recipients have economic hardships caused by sickness or disability , by the war on terror, death, etc.
Families receive pre-paid food debit cards accepted throughout Israel at any of the 400 Branches of Supersol, Blue Square National Supermarket, Machsanei HaShuk, Victory, and Yeinot Beitan chain stores, where they shop with dignity, and are able to buy foods of their choice.
Our Food Cards are pre programmed so that families can only purchase basic food and household products, and exclude any purchase of cigarettes, alcohol, clothing, cosmetics, electronics, or gourmet foods.
Food Cards are issued for six months and sometimes extended for another six months if there are extenuating circumstances, giving families time to adapt to their new economic situation and to learn how to live within their means.
Recipient families are overseen by their local welfare officers with additional oversight by the Jewish Assistance Fund, the Israeli arm of JAR.
Cards are issued throughout the year, including during war and holidays.
Recipients come from all walks of life and from all over Israel with absolutely no discrimination, and include: orphans, single parent families, holocaust survivors, the elderly, soldiers of the IDF, and special needs children, etc.
Food Cards are programmed with different amounts based on donor specifications and recipient needs.
Our administrative budget in Israel is covered by the rebates we receive from the national retailers so that 100% of your donation goes directly to feed needy families. There is NO warehouse and logistical fees spent to cover packaging and distribution costs as families receive their cards in the mail and then go shop like all other citizens
In the merit of your generous donation, may you and your loved ones enjoy
A Happy and Kosher Passover!
