Judaism In The Far East
Judaism In The Far East
Since the establishment of the Global Jewish Assistance & Relief Network in 1992, we were fortunate to benefit from the relationship of Rabbi Mordechai Avtzon, Senior Rabbi in Hong Kong and Head Shliach to China, who introduced us to numerous manufacturers in ASIA who wold donate their excess and slightly damaged inventories of new clothing for distribution in the Former Soviet Union.
By visiting these countries, we developed a close relationship with many communities and would regularly send shipments of kosher food and other items for local Jewish communities, and assist the various communities with many special projects such as the construction of Mikvaot, renovation of Synagougues, etc.
GJARN has participated in various programs in Hong Kong, China, Japan, India, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.
